this was one of those weekends that almost makes you glad you're back at work. and i'm not joking. were it not for the searing pain in my right hand, i'd be totally content with 8 hours of good ol' american workin.
and i can't really decide when this debauchery started. tuesday maybe? i hit the front porch w/ DL and MM. were i an avid yelper i'd write about the whole experience but i won't. it was overrated but that about it. so afterwards we hit this neighborhood bar. a true neighborhood bar. cuz everybody knew everybody else and knew we'd never been there before. but they were extremely cool, incorporated us in the cheers for barry bonds' homerun (and empathized w/ me when i was sad to see my hometown hero lose the title) and hit us w/ the biggest shot of makers i've had this side of chinatown.
and we know they give a brother his fair share of free drinks in the chinatown.
so wednesday i hit the taqueria w/ EH and we headed over to Dalva. i vaguely remember that bar from when i was out here w/ SL but could never quite recall the name of it. anyways, cool bar. decent music. and beer cheap enough to make me keep drinking. needless to say, a little crisp on...
... thursday morning when i was heading to the airport to pick up HE from Austin. that lead to a brief afternoon at the Z, followed by sushi (combined with a LOT of japanese bourbon), followed by molotov's, followed by Nickies. followed by me waking up in the most brutal fashion imaginable on...
...friday. and my arm was killing me. well, not killing me so much as totally devoid of feeling, save for a burning/cold.throb thing going on from the inside of my foream. and the doctors were booked up. so i had to trooper through friday w/ a blaring hangover and that shit. yeah, i wasn't happy. but i met HE, DL, OCA, at Mangarosa for a brazillian steak (that i cooked a little too raw), more bourbon, then CHINATOWN!!!! JD made an appearance as did EJ (back from Europe!) and JK (back from the dead!). and i was too stupid to stop drinking. JD and i ended up at Milk where we closed the place down. so...
... saturday i spent most of the day on the couch. watching DVRed stuff (i love Psych < http://www.usanetwork.com/series/psych/>) and playing guitar hero. i mean, it took everything i had to even breathe. but i managed to pick a spot to eat w/ DK and the Hs up in russian hill, followed by royal oak, followed by bigfoot, followed by the shittiest shit hole i've ever been to (in the tenderloin!)...
wait. i have to describe this place. one room. sorta bright. sorta empty. sorta bad beer selection (i was drinking miller genuine draft...). and there was no last call. she turned out the lights at 2:00 and said "get the fuck out." my kind of bar!
... followed by some late night grub at Sparky's. and what is it w/ me and sparky's? whenever i go i get accosted by some random drunk girl. this time the broad REACHED OVER MY SHOULDER to steal my bacon. don't fuck with my bacon when i'm drunk. shit. don't fuck with my bacon when i'm sober. never is it appropriate to come between a man and his bacon. nevereverever!
unless you're hot. which she was not.
and even then it's questionable.
so going home, passing out i'm relishing in the fact that the next day...
i mean, wtf was she thinking? ok i'm over it.
... is sunday, and glad that i get to sleep in until it hits me that it's the company picnic at the yacht club, and even though it doesn't start unti 2pm, i have to set my alarm cuz there's no way i'd be up that early. and i made it up, and out the door to the party. i think my body was still in shock from the 2 sides of bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, ham, and a lemonade i had at 3am (plus the MGD) to be hungover. combine that with a burger and free beer, the hangover never really stood a chance. which is a good thing. so after a brief moment going down the road on the wrong side (i'll refrain from mentioning who, but it wasn't me driving), the thrill of the weekend was officially over. i was on my couch about to watch Family Guy, blissfully nodding in and out like an old man, and made it to bed.
only to not fall asleep. probably from all the booze. but i made it back here safe and sound monday morning. ready to work.
that's a lie. i really wanted to sleep more, but i was ready to not be tempted by any more freaking booze.
